Civil Engineering Department
         Civil engineering primarily covers activities of engineering discipline from planning, designing and construction of buildings to development of water supplying structures. Civil engineering industry also encompasses areas like soil and rock mechanics, surveying, material science and environmental science.

      Besides designing, planning or construction of buildings, some other major application fields of civil engineering industry are management of residential and commercial buildings, transportation system, fields regarding water supplying activities, and environmental fields, which is basically studied for the maintenance and enhancement of quality of life. Civil engineering specifically deals with the activities of designing and construction of structures like bridges, dams, harbors, canals, roads, tunnels, and water-supply systems, power plants, aircraft, water-treatment plants etc.

     Civil engineering has the potential to build a strong economy and so more multinational companies and engineers are showing their interests to be involved with this industry. With the development of society and because of technological advancement, demands of civil engineering activities are also increasing.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)
1. To develop expertize to work in government, consulting firms and international organizations, addressing the most challenging problems in environmental Engineering

2. Be able to design environmental based systems, components and processes to meet the users need’s realistically

3. Contribute in research and development in environmental engineering and allied areas and shall demonstrate ability to work in team , multicultural environment and communicate effectively
 
Programme Outcomes (POs)
The programme is targeted at developing the following competencies, skills and abilities amongst students. Student shall be able to:

1. Acquire knowledge and skills to evaluate, analyze, synthesize, model and integrate environmental technologies to develop new techniques and systems.

2. Apply technical skills, information, analytical tools and concepts to formulate problems related to environment and society.

3. Develop workable solutions to issues associated to engineering and societal needs considering environmental factors in the context of system design, operation and maintenance.

4. Demonstrate ability to work upon unfamiliar problems through investigation, research and help in further development of technical knowledge and intellectual property.

5. Identify, formulate, model and solve environmental engineering problems with use of progressive computation available in the field of environmental engineering.

6. Demonstrate ability to work in multiple disciplines and acquire capacities to work in team with an object of providing sustainable solutions for environmental problems.

7. To apply the expertise in relevant fields and apply principles of management and finance to execute the work efficiently and optimally

8. Demonstrate ability to communicate with various communities and discuss the environmental engineering problems and develop comprehensive reports, presentations, and instruction.

9. Develop ability to learn reflectively from mistakes, engage in lifelong learning, adapt new developments and participate in continuing education opportunities to foster personal and organizational growth.

10. Possess professional integrity, code of conduct, research ethics with an understanding to contribute towards development of community considering health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental factors

11. An ability to understand the impact of environmental changes on global, economic, and social context, and carry out cutting edge research to reduce the impact.
